Crossing the Jordan words and music by Greg Scheer text inspired by Numbers 16:13 (v.1) John 1:19-34 and 2 Kings 5 (v.2) Deuteronomy 12:10; 9:1-6,Joshua 3-4 (v.3) copyright 1998 CCLI#2777333 Sometimes we get caught in a wilderness between Egypt and the Promised Land--and we can't enjoy the pleasures of either. This bluegrass-tinged song uses the Jordan River as a metaphor for the final crossing we must make before entering into the fullness of life in Jesus.
hear the music: mp3 1. I've been in a desert where no pools of water gather in my soul. I'm tired of wandering and wondering where I'm going. There's a land of milk and honey; they say it lies on Jordan's other side. But right now I am caught between that dream and the life I left behind.
And now I'm dreaming of Jordan; I need a place to rest my soul.
2. Like a voice calling in the wilderness I'm looking for the highway to the Lord.
I'm going down to the Jordan; Jesus please take away my sins.
3. There's a place prepared for me; a place of peace where finally I'll rest.
And now I'm crossing the Jordan; I'll take the promised land off to the West. |
