Just Add People! is a series of piano arrangements crafted especially to accompany congregational singing. Over the years, I’ve worked with many church pianists who can read music but not improvise. These accompaniments are meant to meet that need. Each one finds the unique character of a song and provides pianistic enhancements in a way that supports congregational singing.
In this session we are going to talk about leading and teaching global songs to congregations, quickly and effectively. There’s something of an art to teaching a new song, and specifically one that is from the oral tradition. To do this, Greg is going to use as an example a song called Anaweza Bwana.
Greg Scheer is a composer, author, and speaker. His life’s work includes two sons (Simon and Theo), two books (The Art of Worship, 2006, and Essential Worship, 2016), and hundreds of compositions, songs, and arrangements in a dizzying variety of styles.
