“Come, Holy Ghost/Be Not Afraid,” by Ray Mills and Bruce Benedict is a modern classic. I’ve written several arrangements of the song, but when two pianist friends told me they were looking for arrangements of congregational songs for four-handed piano, I decided to write something entirely new for them, built from the ground up for two pianists at the same keyboard. It is certainly a challenging arrangement, but I think it’s challenging in a good way.

Download includes full score and parts for piano, four hands.

This triumphant hymn of commitment sounds wonderful on organ or piano, but worship team? Not so much. This leadsheet and rough demo provide an alternative approach for leading the hymn in a band context.

This leadsheet is a free download. If you sing this song in your church please report its use to CCLI or OneLicense.

This arrangement of Wendell Kimbrough’s “Mary’s Song” for children’s choir was commissioned by the St. Jerome Catholic Church Catechetical Choir, directed by Carlos Colón. This Magnificat captures the wonder, fear, and obedience of Mary’s response to Gabriel’s message, making it a perfect fit for Advent, Christmas, and Lessons and Carols services.

The anthem is written for two-part children’s choir with an optional descant. It can be accompanied by piano alone, or with added string quintet/orchestra and optional oboe.

It was my great pleasure to work with Liz Vic, Wen Reagan, Bruce Benedict, and Lester Ruth to write this alternative to “Away in A Manger.” Most Christmas songs are all sweetness, with the baby Jesus sleeping contentedly, “no crying he makes.” This song turns that idyllic picture on its head, revealing the drama and stress of a real family with a real baby who was the target of a jealous politician’s wrath, forcing them to flee “away from the manger” to the safety of Egypt.

You can hear Liz Vice’s original recording below. Above is a recording of the string arrangement from Rosewood Church in December 2024.
