Psalm 23: The King of Love (ST. COLUMBA)$0.00 – $25.00 Select options[embed]https://musicblog.gregscheer.com/Ps023-the_king_of_love.mp3[/embed]
Hands down, one of my favorite hymns is “The King of Love My Shepherd Is.” I wrote an SSA arrangement of this which found a home in the Augsburg Choirbook for Women. More recently I re-arranged it for SATB choir.

Psalm 47: Clap Your Hands$0.00 Add to cart
This Yoruban folk song is published as “Psalm 47: Clap Your Hands” in both Global Songs for Worship and Psalms for All Seasons. It is surprisingly simple to sing, which isn’t always the case with African songs and arrangements.
It is also available as an anthem for cantor, choir, flute and percussion published by GIA.
This hymn is a free download. If you sing this song in your church, please report its use to CCLI or OneLicense.
Psalm 5: Hear My Words, O Lord$0.00 – $5.00 Select options[embed]http://musicblog.gregscheer.com/Ps005-hear_my_words.mp3[/embed]
My setting of Psalm 5, “Hear My Words, O God” is composed for two narrators and congregational refrain. It appears as Psalm 5C in the Psalms for All Seasons hymnal, but if you want the un-squished piano music and choral parts you hear on this recording you’ll only find it here. The above recording is just a rough read-through by the Choral Scholars which doesn’t include the scripture reading. The narration allows the whole Psalm to be heard and allows the multiple voices of the original text to come through, as you can hear from the live worship recording below.[embed]http://musicblog.gregscheer.com/psalm_5_hear_my_words.mp3[/embed]
Sanna, Sannanina – flute/piccolo descant$5.00 Add to cart
“Sanna, Sannanina” is a delightful South African song that is perfect for joyous Palm Sunday processions. Here I’ve added a flute descant that is almost as rhythmic as the djembe accompaniment. The recording above is an instrumental version with flute and djembe; this descant would also work over the congregation, choir, or praise team singing the song.
Descants for flute/piccolo. Download also includes SATB hymn with both South African and English texts.
Speak Sabbath O’er My Soul$5.00 Add to cart[audio mp3="https://gregscheer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/moody-speak_sabbath.mp3"][/audio]
With echoes of Sibelius’ “Be Still My Soul,” “Speak Sabbath O’er My Soul” positions Sabbath as something life-giving that God does for us rather than a teeth-gritting discipline we do for God.
Piano accompaniment with SATB voice parts
The Lord’s Prayer$25.00 Add to cart
Even with just two vocal lines, there is enough musically and emotionally in this setting of Matthew 6:9-13 to stimulate the best church choir, broaden the treble chorus’ repertoire, or challenge the childrens’ choir. It also makes a nice duet.
Anthem for Two-part Choir and Piano (Optional Solo). Purchase price allows you to make as many copies as you need for your choir.
