This arrangement brings a unique twist to the classic hymn, “Fairest Lord Jesus”— it is in 6/8! Wendell Kimbrough of Church of the Incarnation in Dallas had a vision for an understated rendition of the song accompanied by acoustic praise band with strings. At first, the 6/8 looks a little odd on the page, but when you hear it, it has an undeniably charming lilt.

This arrangement was commissioned by Church of the Incarnation in Dallas, where my friend Wendell Kimbrough directs worship. Without gilding the lily, it heightens the beloved hymn with a sparkly piano arrangement and optional strings.
