Psalm 34: Taste and See the Love of God

$0.00

Psalm 34 is one of the Psalms’ “greatest hits.” Rather than compete with classic Psalm 34 songs like James Moore’s “Taste and See” or Sylvia Dunstan’s “All Who Hunger,” I took a more intimate, personal approach, using the Psalm’s imagery in fresh ways that don’t sound overly churchy, and a music style that is simple and mesmerizing.

1. When I could feel nothing but fear,
I cried to God, and God came near.
I should have known that I would never
be able to save
myself.

2. I longed for life’s most lovely rays;
thirsted for beauty, like an ache.
I didn’t know that God was listening;
my hunger could be
satisfied.

My mouth is filled with praise,
and goodness fills my days.
Oh, taste and see the love of God.

3. And though this life can break your heart,
God’s love surrounds you where you are.
The spirit crushed can be made whole,
hearts can mend, brought to life
again. Refrain

4. There is a refuge for the soul;
a light for those who dare to hope.
Trouble may come, but God will rescue,
redeem, and restore
once more. Refrain
