$5.00 Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product pagehttps://musicblog.gregscheer.com/o_sacred_head.mp3
“O Sacred Head, Now Wounded” is the quintessential Passion hymn. These descants can be played by a variety of treble or bass clef instruments, together or separately, and are also flexible in how they are used within the song. For example, I have used the descants as an extended introduction and brought them back on the final verse of singing. Email me for other transpositions that would be useful in your church.

The options may be chosen on the product page[embed]https://musicblog.gregscheer.com/peace_perfect_peace-COS2012.mp3[/embed]There is perhaps no hymn more serenely beautiful than “Peace, Perfect Peace.” Edward Bickersteth’s text doesn’t dismiss the troubles of this world, but instead sees them as an opportunity to hear Jesus’ call to rest in him. George Caldbeck’s melody is simple, yet powerful. This arrangement builds on this beautiful simplicity, growing verse after verse and ending on a note of confidence.

Refugee King – strings
Price range: $0.00 through $25.00 Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product page[audio m4a="https://gregscheer.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/refugee_king_rosewood.m4a"][/audio]It was my great pleasure to work with Liz Vic, Wen Reagan, Bruce Benedict, and Lester Ruth to write this alternative to “Away in A Manger.” Most Christmas songs are all sweetness, with the baby Jesus sleeping contentedly, “no crying he makes.” This song turns that idyllic picture on its head, revealing the drama and stress of a real family with a real baby who was the target of a jealous politician’s wrath, forcing them to flee “away from the manger” to the safety of Egypt.
You can hear Liz Vice’s original recording below. Above is a recording of the string arrangement from Rosewood Church in December 2024.
